Nvidia is expected to unveil the RTX 5060 Ti in 8 GB and 16 GB VRAM configurations. However, before the official announcement and the reviews have gone online, the performance of the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB has leaked. The leaked figures hint at a solid upgrade over the RTX 4060 Ti.
Nvidia Blackwell RTX 5000 Geforce GPU Benchmark Desktop
We are on the cusp of the RTX 5060 Ti launch, as the GPU is expected to be officially announced on April 15th. Reviews and the sales of the RTX 5060 Ti are said to fall a day later, on April 16th. Based on previous leaks, the RTX 5060 Ti will be available in 8 GB and 16 GB VRAM buffers, just like the last gen. However, Nvidia is reportedly pricing the GPU lower than the RTX 4060 Ti, potentially making it a solid value if the performance increase is there.
Talking about the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB's performance, the folks at VideoCardz have gotten their hands on 3DMark scores of the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB from reviewers.
RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB 3DMark performance
According to figures obtained by VideoCardz, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB manages scores of:
- 15,389 in 3DMark TimeSpy (1440p)
- 7,136 in TimeSpy Extreme (4K)
- 4,055 in Speed Way (4K)
- 3,455 in Steel Nomad (4K)
- 9,944 in Port Royal (1440p)
Per VideoCardz scores of the RTX 4060 Ti, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is:
- 14.25% faster in 3DMark TimeSpy
- 16% faster in TimeSpy Extreme
- 25% ahead in Speed Way
- 18% ahead in Steel Nomad
- 23% faster in Port Royal
Overall, VideoCardz notes that the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is, on average, 20% faster than the RTX 4060 Ti in all 3DMark tests that the publication received. To put this into perspective, our database shows that the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB brings only a 15% improvement over the RTX 3060 Ti in synthetic benchmarks.
So, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB should be a much better value than the RTX 4060 Ti was, especially if the leak regarding lower prices turns out to be true.
That said, there is still the issue of actual street pricing and availability. GPU launches from both Nvidia and AMD have been abysmal when it comes to the availability of cards at the stated MSRPs. So, even if the RTX 5060 Ti ends up 20% ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti, the card will be a dud if the street pricing makes it a $500/$600 GPU.
RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 5070
VideoCardz also claims that that the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is considerably slower than the RTX 5070, with the latter outpacing the former by a 33% margin. This is a similar delta to what we measured in our 3DMark Time Spy Graphics testing of the RTX 4070 and the RTX 4060 Ti (Available on Amazon).
As always, synthetic tests don’t tell the whole story. So, wait for actual gaming tests of the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB before making your mind about the card.
